As is evidenced by our
name, the environment is very important to Cedar Law. We are
doing our best to make sure that we reduce, reuse and recycle in the
workplace. Here are some practical steps we are
taking to make choices that are better for the environment:
- choosing compact, energy-efficient office spaces
- reducing our commute through a partially “virtual” legal
practice that allows us to work from home-based offices several days
a week
- converting to a paperless office
system by:
- sending .pdfs rather than faxes where
possible
- saving documents electronically rather
than in paper form
- when it is absolutely necessary to use
paper, we only use 100% recycled paper and or FSC-certified paper products
- wherever possible, choosing suppliers
that are local to minimize on carbon emissions from transportation
- reducing our energy consumption by turning
off lights, computers, other equipment when not in use
- purchasing energy-saving equipment whenever
possible
- choosing sustainable and low-impact products
wherever possible (furniture, etc.)
- preference is given to recycled, biodegradable,
and/or reusable products
- recycling old equipment
- combining travel wherever possible to
reduce carbon footprint
- driving instead of flying where possible.
We will continue to strive for better options, and we welcome your comments
and suggestions.
